Donald Shump Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watson-Yates Funeral Home on Mar. 31, 2026.
Today we gather to honor Donnie, who was taken from us far too soon at the age of 52. Born on November 4, 1973, Donnie lived a life full of passion, loyalty, and unforgettable moments.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kristina Shump; his children, Keagan and Kami; and his stepsons, Alex and Demetrius Sanders. He also leaves behind his brother, Josh Davis; his nephew, Ashton Davis; and his niece, Kendall Davis. Donnie is also survived by his aunt, Deb Ward; his uncle, Tim Ward; his cousin, Aaron Ward and his wife, Ximing; along with many cherished friends who became like family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Christinia Frampton-Davis, and his cousin, Sean Ward.

If you knew Donnie, you knew exactly what you were getting. He was stubborn-there's no denying that-but he loved just as fiercely as he stood his ground. He was funny, full of life, and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Give him a moment, and he'd be talking baseball or football with you like you'd known each other forever.

For 30 years, Donnie worked as an electrician, a career that reflected who he was-steady, dependable, and someone people could always count on. But beyond his work, his heart truly lived in the moments spent cheering from the stands, watching games at home, and being out on the field. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Dallas Cowboys, and his passion for those teams ran deep.

Donnie's love for sports wasn't just as a fan-it was something he lived. In 1991, he set the Maryland high school single-season RBI record with 45, leading his team to an undefeated 24–0 season and earning both state and national championships under Coach Harry Lentz and Coach Al Kohlhafer. He finished his high school career with 81 RBIs, the most in Maryland history, and was drafted in 1991 by the Houston Astros in the 75th round (1553rd overall).

Donnie lived fully in the moments that mattered most-on the field, in the stands, and surrounded by the people he loved. He will be remembered for his strength, his humor, his passion, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 East King Street, Seaford, Delaware. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

You will be missed my many my friend. Your passion for whatever you did was second to none. You were key to helping DWS win their first National Championship and you were a feared competitor on the field. May your memory be eternal, RIP Shump
