It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Harold Simon, of Anderson, Indiana, who departed this life peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on April 23, 1948, in Anderson to Donald and Nola (Johnson) Simon, Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose love and kindness touched the lives of many.
Donald grew up in Alexandria. He was employed by P. L. Porter in Westfield, Indiana. On January 29, 2016, he married Lisa (Brummett) Hall, with whom he shared a loving life together. Donald loved the Lord and faithfully attended both Cornerstone Community Church in Alexandria and By His Grace Ministries in Anderson.
Donald will be remembered as a loving husband to his wife, Lisa Simon, and a proud father to his sons, Mark (Angie) Simon of Anderson and Tom Simon of Leesburg, Georgia. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Taylor Simon of Leesburg, Georgia; Mason Simon, Chloe (Joel) Gardner, and Shae Simon, all of Anderson; and Allie Elliott of Rossville. He is also survived by Lisa's son, Chris Elliott of Rossville.
In addition to his immediate family, Donald is survived by his brother, Jay (Cindy) Simon of Anderson; his sister, Dori (Jim) Tallman of Pendleton; and their families, including nephews, Jeff Simon and Scott Simon of Anderson, niece Michelle Stanley of Plainfield, and sister-in-law, Paula (Jim) Reese of Anderson. He is also lovingly remembered by his special friends: Clyde and Patsy Denny; Bernie and Connie McKinney; Kendall Stroud and her daughters, Hannah, Lizzie, Aubrey, and Addison.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Simon, Sr.; his mother, Nola (Johnson) Simon; and his brother, Donald Simon, Jr.
Those who knew Donald will remember his warmth, gentle spirit, and deep compassion for others. He found joy in the simple moments spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Cornerstone Community Church, 1010 N. Park Avenue, Alexandria, Indiana.
Immediately following visitation, a funeral service celebrating Donald's life will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Randy Murphy and Rev. Dr. Susan Jones officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Community Church in honor of Donald's faith and love for his community.
As we reflect on Donald's life, may we carry forward his legacy of love and kindness in our hearts. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
