Donald Ray Sims Sr., 81, of Allen, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Born on June 9, 1944, in Prague, Oklahoma, born to Berlin Ray Sims and Margaret (Poole) Foster.
Don graduated from Holdenville High School. He was an entrepreneur and owner of Don's "Lazy S" Beef Jerky.
Don proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. A man of strong character and quiet strength, Don built a life anchored in family, service, love and the Lord.
On August 3, 1976, Don married Flossie, and together they created a blended family of eight, (6 children)-each one held close to his heart: Don Ray Sims Jr., Melinda (William) Haney, Jennifer (LaWayne) Frederick, Richard (Lori) Geyer, and Kelly Bohannon.
He was a proud grandfather to: Martin (Ashley) Haney, Jenny (Sammy) Young, Jerry (Amanda) Frederick, Austin Sims, Lacey Mowdy, Hunter Sims, Tanner Sims, AJ Bohannon, Felicia Bohannon, Matthew Geyer, and Savannah Geyer. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a loving extended family, including one bonus child, Chris Bohannon, two bonus granddaughters, and one bonus great-granddaughter.
Don was preceded in death by two beloved sons, Darrel Edward Sims, Theodore (Ted) Wayne Sims, and his grandson, Clayton Charles Hackney.
Pallbearers are Hunter Sims, Heath Frederick, Martin Haney, Austin Sims, Tanner Sims and Jerry Frederick. Honorary pallbearers are Treyson Mowdy, Tresley Mowdy, Kailey Trump, Gracie Trump, Kammi Hackney, Matthew Geyer, Savannah Geyer, Cooper Frederick and Kierra Frederick
Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Hudson Phillips Funeral Home.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Allen High School Auditorium with Brother Ed Rutherford officiating.
Interment will follow at Atwood Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
