Donald R. Singer

Donald R. Singer, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Monday, December 22, 2025. Born on October 4, 1936, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Geraldine E. (Miller) Singer. On June 15, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Joann M. Wright, who preceded him in death on April 11, 1995, after sharing nearly 38 years of marriage together. Don was fortunate enough to find love again with Judy (Wilson) Kratzer, whom he married on August 22, 1999.

Don was a 1954 graduate of Lewistown High School. He worked for Bell Telephone and later Verizon, where he retired in 1994. After retirement, he continued to serve his community by working in connection with Mount Nittany Medical Center to install lifelines for patients in need.

In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his three children, Glenda Long of Bellefonte, Mark A. Singer and his companion, Michele, of Milesburg, and Robert Singer of Tyrone, two step children, Kraig Kratzer (Susie) of Reedsville, and Kris Kratzer (Colleen) of McVeytown; six grandchildren: Kelsey Thompson (Dustin), Courtney Dillon (Matthew), Ryan Singer (Kaitlyn), Garrett Singer, Haley Singer, and Breanna Singer, two step grandchildren, Jarrett (Sarah), and Jordan Kratzer (companion Jeremy Owens); six great grandchildren: Gentry, Laramie, and Conway Thompson, Daisy Dillon, Frankie and Soren Singer; three step great grandchildren: Micah and Maya Kratzer, and Everett Owens.

Along with his first wife, Joann, and parents, he was predeceased by a step grandson, Alex, son-in-law, Joseph "Joey" Long, and a sister, Robbie (Mac) Whitsel.

Don belonged to the NRA for over 60 years. He was a charter member of the Lewistown Pistol Club, and a member of the Lake Park Methodist Church in Lewistown. After moving to Bellefonte in 1966, he joined Faith United Methodist Church.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. A memorial service will immediately follow, beginning at 11:00 AM, at the church, with Pastor Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
