Donald Joseph Sixta, 76, of Pearland, Texas, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 8 at 10:30 AM, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson, Nebraska, with Fr. Stan Schmit celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM with a 6:00 PM rosary at the church. Visitation continues on Saturday from 9:30 AM until Mass time, again at the church. Memorials are suggested as those of the family or donor's choice. Donald Joseph Sixta (better known as Don) was born on October 30, 1948, to Stanley and Helen (Richtig) Sixta in Fremont, NE. He graduated from Fremont Catholic High School, Creighton University, and Creighton Law School. He practiced law for 50 years, with the last 25 years in Pearland and Friendswood, Texas.
Don was in ROTC at Creighton and completed Finance Branch Officers Training but never went to active duty because the war with Vietnam had just ended. He received an honorable discharge as a Captain. In 1972, Don married Constance Sue Tietgen from Norfolk, NE, and they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last year. Don and Connie have two daughters, Dr. Sherry Sixta of Mansfield, TX, and Christine (Sixta) Rinehart, PhD of Newberry, SC. He was very proud of them and spoke of them often with friends.
Don has two grandchildren, Helena Rose Sixta and Austin James Sixta, whom he loved dearly. He had a passion for boating, fishing, and traveling, and he enjoyed discussing politics with his friends.
Don was a 3rd level Knight in his home parish of St. Helens Catholic Church, Pearland, TX. He is survived by his brother David R. Sixta and his wife Susan Sixta of CO; his wife Connie Sixta; his daughters Sherry Sixta and Christine Rinehart; his son-in-law Todd Rinehart; his grandchildren Helena and Austin Sixta; his sister-in-law Billie Tietgen; and his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many dear friends in Pearland's Silverlake Supper Club. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Everyone is invited to a luncheon at the Cobblestone Inn Conference Room, 2218 Colfax Street, Schuyler, Nebraska, around 12:30 PM on Saturday following the interment.
