Don D Smith, age 88, of
Webster, NY, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov 16, 2025. A loving husband, father and "Papa". He will be truly missed.
Born in Morgantown, Indiana in 1937 to Herschel Smith and Helen Wise, Don developed a strong Christian faith. He was married to his wife, Susie, for 67 years and was devoted to his family. With a wonderful sense of humor and a listening ear, he had many friends. His grin and laugh could lighten the heart of any soul.
In 1954, he enlisted in the Marines and was temporarily stationed at Camp LeJeune. As a result, he ultimately suffered from Parkinson's Disease for over 25 years. After leaving the Marine Corp, he began his career in Information Technology. He worked for Xerox Corp for 26 years. Don was also active in the church serving as an elder, Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. He was a loving, caring Christian man that shared his faith with many.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and integrity. He did not judge people but sought to help with wisdom, compassion and humility. He was always thinking of others before himself.
He was known for always keeping busy with a project or two of which he had "a system" of all his own. Don and Susie enjoyed camping for many years where family and friends were always welcome and made many memories. He made the best coffee and was always happy to get another pot brewing. He loved a good joke and created a lot of laughs with his lifetime friend Chuck.
Don had four children and was a father figure to many more. Following the role model of his beloved grandfather, Ocle Smith, he played a significant part in the upbringing of his grandchildren. The tremendous impact he leaves on their lives cannot be overstated.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Smith; mother, Helen Otteman; step-father, Anthony Otteman; wife, Susie Smith; sister, Jean Duliba; sister, Nancy Michel; brother, John Smith; son, David Smith; daughter, Robin Prizzi; grandson, Nathan Prizzi and grandson Kenneth Jacobs.
