Phelps, Donald A. Smith age 95, passed away on Tuesday January 13, 2026 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic surrounded by his immediate family.

Friends may call on Thursday (Jan. 22) from 4-6pm at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps.

It is requested that memorial donations be made in memory of Don to the Clifton Springs Hospital Foundation 2 Coulter Road Clifton Springs, NY 14432.

Don was born on October 2, 1930 in Fayette, NY the son of the late Alfred and Jenny Clark Smith.

He owned and operated Donald A Smith Disposal Service in Phelps serving many local Towns and Villages. Don also owned

Rosemary's Diner in Phelps for many years. Don was a handy man and enjoyed tinkering and building.

He was an avid Race Car fan and enjoyed all racing from DIRT to NASCAR.

Don also enjoyed camping and picnics with his family. He had a great sense of humor and would brighten anyones day. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Desmond (MacKenzie) Miller, Brielle Miller, Hannah (Devon) Reynolds, Destiny Marland, Paisley Miller, Grayson Reynolds, Kreed (Bug) Gould, Lincoln Valder.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Sharon Smith of Phelps

He was predeceased by his siblings;
