Donald Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Durand Chapel on Dec. 24, 2025.
Donald J. Taylor, age 83, of Vernon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon, with Pastor John Walworth officiating.
Donald was born on May 18, 1942, in Kimball Township, just outside of Port Huron, Michigan, to Charles and Clover Taylor. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1960 and worked for many years as a stock picker at General Motors in Swartz Creek, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and reliability.
On May 15, 1981, Donald married the love of his life, Beverly Cross, at the Vernon United Methodist Church. They shared 40 wonderful years together, during which Donald devoted himself wholeheartedly to caring for Beverly throughout her illness, until she passed away in 2021.
Donald enjoyed traveling to Florida, especially during the winter months. He was a lifelong fan of auto racing, particularly NASCAR and drag racing, and loved watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He found joy in working in his yard, tending to his home, taking long walks, watching television, and spending time with his loved ones. Donald was known for his generous heart, always putting others before himself, and for his great sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him.
Donald is survived by his brother, Richard Taylor, his best friend, Mack Stokan, and his dear friends and neighbors, Karl and Teresa Sanderson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly, his parents, Charles and Clover Taylor, his brothers, Ronald Taylor and Arland Taylor, his sister, Janet Stone, and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald and Beverly's memory to the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota.
Memories and online condolences may be shared with the family at www.WatkinsFuneralHomes.com.
