Donald Eugene Thoman

On Monday, July 18, 2022, Donald E. Thoman, Sr., 78, of Shippensburg, formerly of Glen Rock, passed away at home with family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Sandra F. (Bollinger) Thoman. Don was born on February 12, 1944 in Hanover, PA to the late Carl and Mary (Beard) Thoman. He attended Susquehannock High School then worked on his grandfather's farm. When he turned 18, he drove truck for Coca-Cola for several years, then worked for Wolf's Bus Lines in York Springs. He then spent the next 42 years working for Shaffer Trucking in Kingstown, PA, first driving tractor trailer, then in the shop working on the trailers.
Don enjoyed working outside, especially helping his wife, Sandy, in her garden. He also enjoyed going hunting with his dad, when he was alive, and being around his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving him are his wife, Sandy; three sons, Donald Thoman, Jr., Michael Thoman and wife, Beth, and Keith Thoman; three brothers, Clair Thoman and wife Sally, Lester Thoman and wife Kathy, and Clyde Thoman and wife Patricia; four sisters, Shirley Shamer and husband Rev. Wayne, Rose Kessler and husband Fred, Linda Gladfelter and husband Michael, and Lois Stitely; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Susan K. Hoke; and one daughter-in-law, Kathy R. Thoman.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 21, from 7 to 9 PM at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA, and again on Friday, July 22 from 10 to 11 AM at Greenmount United Methodist Church, 4242 Greenmount Church Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327. Private funeral and committal services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory are recommended to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
