Donald A. Thompson

Donald A. Thompson, 90, of Canonsburg, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Edith Stafford Thompson for 66 years; loving father of Debra Myers, Dwayne (Lou-Ann) Thompson and Cynthia (Sam) Lamantia; cherished grandfather of seven; caring great- grandfather of 12; proud great-great-grandfather of two. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Don leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a passion for life's simple pleasures. He devoted many years of his life at Millcraft, where he worked as a master machinist until his retirement. Known for his expertise and attention to detail, he earned the respect of colleagues. He continued his friendships made at Millcraft, making a tradition of meeting the first Friday of every month-a time to reminisce and stay connected. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Don had a deep love for model trains. His passion for HO trains was reflected in his meticulously crafted small town, a labor of love he took great pride in. He also enjoyed traveling by train during his vacations, finding joy in the journey as much as the destination. Don also shared a special bond with his son through their shared hobby of RC cars, creating lasting memories while navigating the tracks and terrain together. Even after retiring from Millcraft, Don wasn't ready to slow down. He worked for many years at Bobby Rahal, delivering cars, parts, and providing excellent service to customers. Known as a fixer and helper to all, Don was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was solving a mechanical problem or offering a word of advice. His generosity and willingness to help others will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon Saturday, January 31, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
