Donald J. Trythall

Donald J. Trythall (Menomonee Falls) – Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2022 at age 90.
Born on January 16, 1932 to Donald L. Trythall and Alma Gibbons (Gibby) Trythall in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. He married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Jean Matasek, in 1953. They were married for 62 years until Hazel preceded him in death on December 17, 2015.
Donald will be missed by his five wonderful children, Susan Carol Cox (James), Donna Jean Trythall-Passey (James), James Trythall, Donald A. Trythall and William Trythall (Sandra), as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Don was a standout high school basketball and football player at Rufus King. He played UW-Madison football in 1950 and was a lifelong Badger fan and UWM Alumni Association member.
Don served Milwaukee Public Schools for 33 years as a teacher, coach, counselor and administrator, as well as having taught at a private high school. He was a beloved tennis coach (City Championships) and high school football coach. Throughout the remainder of Don's life former students stayed in touch and thanked him for the positive influence he had on their lives.
Donald also served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church, president of the Coaches Association, and the Assistant Principal Association.
Don loved nature (The Rim/AZ), woodworking, reading, lime sodas, and Badgers sports. He rode his bike, cross country skied, swam and golfed into his 90's.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful, loving "angels" at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice (Wauwatosa) for their compassion and care. Special thanks also to Don's former Riverside students, athletes and awesome golf buddies for making his life rich in friendship.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 20th from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin with service to follow at 3:30 PM. Private interment will be at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Menomonee Falls.
