Donald G. Voeks

Donald G. Voeks, age 92, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the Lawlis Hospice in Mequon. He was born on June 17, 1932 to Erhardt and Nelda (Kaiser) Voeks.
A lifelong resident of Silver Creek, Don graduated from Random Lake High School in 1950. He married Carol Plaum on September 30,1950 at St. Martin's UCC Church in Fillmore.
Don worked as a truck driver for 37 years. In retirement he pursued his passion of woodturning, becoming a Master Woodturner. Through his business, Nature's Way with Wood, Don showcased his artistry with wood at events throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Along with each piece, came a story of how the wood would lead him to the design he created. He was honored to be able to display and sell his pieces at the renowned wood carver, Peter Engler Store in Branson, Missouri.
His interest in wood came early in life. He loved going to the family property in Wausaukee where he would spend hours walking in the woods, taking care of the land and trees, fishing, and snowmobiling.
During his younger years, Don was a volunteer fireman for the Silver Creek Fire Department. He was also a member of New Horizon UCC church in Boltonville where he was instrumental in getting the new church built after St. Paul's UCC church in Silver Creek burned down. He was a longtime member of the choir and proud to be able to sing solos during his later years.
Don is survived by sons Jeffrey (Jacquie) of Wausaukee, WI their daughter Jennifer (Joe) Davidson, great grandchildren Jacob (Emily) and Jackie Davidson; Steven (Phyllis) of Smithville MO, their daughters Erica, great grandson Liam Delorme, and Allison (Brian) Roe, great granddaughter Callianna, and Michael (Anna) of Grafton, WI and their sons, Justin and Aaron.
Don is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Carol, sons William and Donald E. (Bette), siblings Merlin, Orville, Wallace (Freida), Vernon "Boyce" (Vivian), Virginia "Mickey" (Ollie) Feiereisen, Robert (Barbara), in-laws Carl (Jeanette) Plaum, Marion (Rich) Geib, and niece Chris Plaum
A celebration of life will take place on June 8th, at New Horizon UCC church, on Hwy 144 just north of Boltonville. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm followed by a short service and a meal in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials to New Horizon UCC church, the Silver Creek Fire Department, or the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
