Donald Ray Walker, known affectionately as Don to his friends and family, left this world on
October 8, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on February 25, 1939, in San Angelo, Texas, Don spent
many years working in the oil fields of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. He passed away
peacefully in San Angelo, surrounded by family and friends who cherished him.
Don was the son of Curtis and Lula Walker, and he grew up alongside his siblings Bobby
Walker, Wanda Caulder, and Curtis Wayne Walker. He was a proud graduate of Robert Lee
High School, where he formed friendships and values that lasted a lifetime. Don's work ethic
was second to none, demonstrated by his dedicated 35-years of service at Union Texas
Petroleum, where he was honored with a service award recognizing his commitment and hard
work.
Don was united in marriage for 65 years to his beloved wife Janis. Together they raised two
daughters, Gina and Stacy. Their family was extended with two loving son-in-laws, Dub Johnson
and Steve Pullig. Don's role as a father and grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and he
instilled in his children the importance of kindness, selflessness, and the value of hard work.
Don was blessed with five grandchildren, David and wife Kristin Pullig, Arden and husband
Michael Dwyer, Zack and wife Shanna Johnson, Jared Johnson, and Travis Johnson, and two
great-grandchildren, Ainsley Pullig and Addison Pullig.
A man of many talents, Don was known for always working on a project. He could often be
found in his workshop "over engineering" or "fixing something." After retirement, Don and Janis
enjoyed many scenic trips across the U.S. Don's interests extended to the great outdoors.
Whether he was casting a line into the water or setting up camp at the deer lease, he was at
home in nature. He treasured spending time and passing along his wisdom to family and
friends.
Don's life was a testament to the simple truth that the richest lives are those lived for others. As
we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue
to guide us, just as it always has. Don's memory will be cherished, his stories retold, and his life
celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but never
forgotten.
The family will be at the viewing from 4:00-5:00 on Friday. Also, in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Meals for the Elderly.
