Donald “Duck” W. Whitt, 62, of 144 Brown Road, passed away at his home Friday, July 7, 2023.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Reidlawn Cemetery with Pastor Brandon Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, July 11, 2023 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
Duck was born in Danville, VA and was the son of the late James A. Whitt and Mary Hawkins Smith. He was employed with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for over 20 years. Duck was a long haired, Harley riding, red neck and was proud of it! He was generous almost to a fault and would give you the shirt off his back. You could find him at the race shop or the dirt track with Lovelace Motor Sports whenever there was a race. Duck had a soft spot for animals and always had a pet. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife Belva Hayes Whitt; brothers James Edgar Whitt and David Nelson Whitt.
He is survived by his niece Tanya L. Chilton and husband Jason; girlfriend Mary C. Gaarn; half brother John P. “JP” Smith; and a large extended family.
We would like to thank Scott Gibson for being his best friend and we would also like to thank Authoracare for their loving care of Duck over the last 7 months.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Authoracare, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
