Dong Denise Tien

Dong Denise Tien, 91 of Fairfield, formerly of Huntington, New York, passed away surrounded by her family on July 24, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late George W. Tien. Denise was born in Cholon, Vietnam on December 21, 1932 to the late Cheng Seong Tija and Thuan My Giang. She came from a large family of nine children, where she was the youngest of six girls.
As a young girl, Denise immigrated to the United States in 1952 to attend Upsala College in New Jersey. She eventually met and married George and raised her daughters Beatrice and Grace. With George's untimely passing, Denise rejoined the workforce to provide for her two young daughters. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time in her garden and cooking Chinese food for her family and friends. Nothing gave her greater joy than being with her family.
Denise is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Tien, Grace Hwang and son-in-law Tony Hwang. She was especially proud of her grandchildren Christina and Peter. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to George and her parents, she was predeceased by all of her siblings.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, July 30 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd. Fairfield. A Prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private at Pinelawn Cemetery on Long Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Hill Church Memorial Garden 1045 Old Academy Rd., Fairfield CT, 06824.
