Donie Young

Donie Young, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 19, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. Donie shared 37 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, James "Duane" Young, building a home rooted in love and faith. She devoted her life to her family, always filling her home with love, laughter, and warmth. Donie had a joyful spirit, a passion for shopping, and a faith in God that guided her every step. She will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion, and the joy she brought to those around her. She was preceded in death by her mother Nellie Griffin, father Auvy Griffin, brothers Jefferson and Carlos Griffin, and sisters Sue Harrington and Mary Dean Abel. Donie is survived by her husband of 37 years: Duane Young; daughters: Sandra Jones, Christi Ellis, and Melissa Overfield; step-children Vanessa Melton and Morgan Young; sister Joan Warren; 10 grandchildren: Justin Higgins, Cameron Higgins, Leslie McFall, Emalee Welsh, Eathan Overfield, Trey Melton, Jake Young, Gabriel Young, Amy Beth, and William Jones, Jr.; and 7 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Donie's Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Buckman officiating. Burial will follow at Cash Creek Cemetery in Henderson County, KY.
