Duane Young

Noel Duane Young, age 87 of White Hall passed away Monday January 5, 2026 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born March 16, 1938 in Jersey County, the son of Stephen and Mary Crane Young. He married Katherine Retherford March 5, 1956 in Jerseyville and she preceded him in death January 21, 1997.
He is survived by his children, Donna (Jack) Pyatt of Carrollton, Donald (Carolyn) Young of Brighton, Ricky (Cheryl) Young of Eldred, Cindy (Jim) Featherstone of Rockbridge, and Regina Ward of White Hall, eight grandchildren, Jason Young, Jamie Wiegand, Paul Young, Tasha Barnd, Tonya Krueger, Nick Holmes, Jenny Milnes and Kaitlyn Ward; twelve great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren, a sister Frances Summers of Jerseyville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, Edgar Young, Melvin Young, Elknah Young, Donald Young, Roy Young, and four sisters, Maxine Sweetin, Mary Louis Thaxton, Doris Wedding, Margaret Tucker, and a son-in-law, Brad Ward.
Duane worked for Affiliated Laboratories in White Hall, then Sunderland Chevrolet in Jerseyville retiring in 2000 as the parts manager. He later worked for Camerer Chevrolet, Boyd Hospital, and mowing for the City of White Hall. He enjoyed working on small engine, flowers, hunting, and fishing.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will be in Carrollton City Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be from 4:00 -6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be suggested to Boyd Hospital Gas Card Program. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is assisting the family.
