Charles "Tom"Walker died on January 11, 2026 in Peoria. He was born on December 20, 1948 to Charles and Marcelle Walker in Carrollton, Illinois He married the former Linda Plogger. They later divorced. Tom is survived by one son, Sean (Jennifer) Walker of Land o Lakes, FL; two grandchildren, Nathan and Lauren Walker; two brothers Larry (Karen) Walker, Robert (Marietta) Walker and one sister, Patricia Miner all of Carrollton; and many special nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two nephews, Bradley Walker and Daniel Walker and a brother-in-law, Steve Miner.

Tom graduated from Carrollton High School in 1967. His life changed when he was drafted by the Army in 1968. He proudly served his country in the infantry in Vietnam where he was involved in many serious conflicts. He was a two time Bronze Star recipient for his bravery and courage. Upon his return from the service Tom worked and trained race horses with his family, racing all over the state.

He was a good driver, winning many races and trained several high level horses in his career. Tom enjoyed going to the fairgrounds daily to watch the horses train with his coffee and newspaper. He also enjoyed playing Euchre and watching Gunsmoke and Wagon Train.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Sunday January 18, 2026 at the Carrollton United Methodist Church with a graveside service and memorial to follow at the Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Eldred American Legion. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com
