Donna J. Aitchison, born on December 20, 1947, in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, after a long battle with Kidney Disease.
Her professional life was dedicated to nursing, where she made a significant impact at Massachusetts General Hospital. An ICU nurse and later a Director of Nurses, Donna invested her years of knowledge into educating countless nurses, guiding and mentoring them with unparalleled compassion. Throughout her career, she not only cared for patients with dedication but also contributed to medical research, further solidifying her reputation as a published author in her field.
Education held a special place in Donna's heart. She graduated from Girls Latin School and went on to the Massachusetts General Hospital School to earn her nursing degree. Her commitment to lifelong learning led her to continue her education at Simmons College.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Donna cherished her personal interests. Her love of reading and books was matched only by her creative spirit, as she devoted time crafting beautiful quilted blankets and crocheted items for her friends and family. These handmade treasures were a testament to her thoughtfulness and generosity.
Above all her achievements, her proudest accomplishment was her daughter, who became a living testament to the love and dedication that Donna poured into her family. Those who knew her were invariably touched by her kind nature; she truly embodied the essence of "the good girl," a title she wore with grace and humility.
Loving mother to Caitlin Aitchison of Providence Rhode Island. Cherished sister to Joyce Gerraughty of Kingston and Ronald Walsh and his wife Jeanne of Abington. Aunt to Christine Record, Colleen Towne, Ronald J. Walsh Jr. and Michael Walsh.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 8/25/2025 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
