Donna Carol Lomax Andrew December 15, 1947 - August 26, 2025 Donna Carol Lomax Andrew, 77, of Preston, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia, associated with Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration. Born on December 15, 1947, in East New Market, Md., she was the daughter of the late C. Spencer Lomax and Queen Esther "Queenie" Ryle Lomax. Donna was a 1965 graduate of Colonel Richardson High School. She began her college career at Frostburg State University before transferring to Salisbury State College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education-Mathematics, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In addition, Donna received her Master's degree in Secondary Education from Salisbury State University. Her lifelong passion for education led her to a career in teaching mathematics and music. She taught for ten years in the Caroline County Public School system, one year in Wicomico County, and five years at Lighthouse Academy in Easton before returning to Caroline County, where she taught for another seven years. Donna then accepted a position at Chesapeake College as a professor of mathematics, where she inspired countless students until her retirement in 2014. In addition to her career in education, Donna shared her love of music in many local churches. A gifted organist, pianist, choir director, and vocalist, she served in music ministries at Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, Bethesda Methodist Church in Preston, Talbot Bible Church in Easton, and Greensboro Baptist Church in Greensboro. She most recently attended Talbot Bible Church and Bethesda Methodist Church, where she had grown up in faith. Donna also worked alongside her family on their Orchard known as Friendship Farms. She was kind and generous with her time and hospitality to customers. She was affectionately known by some as the Peach Lady. On August 13, 1966, Donna married her high school sweetheart, Richard Andrew, at Bethesda Methodist Church in Preston, with Rev. Harrell Pittsenbarger officiating. This month, they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Spencer (1981); her mother, Queenie (2014); her son, Kory (2021); and her brother, Edson (2022). She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; three children, Kari Farnell (Chris), Katie Whaples (Bobby), and Kasey Andrew (Diane); seven grandchildren, Meridith Gray, Christopher Farnell (Julie), Alyson Whitman (Brian), Andrew, Austin, Aidan, and Asher Whaples; and three great-grandchildren, Maverick and McKenna Gray, and Oliver Whitman. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, a nephew, and many dear friends. Donna will be remembered for her faith, her devotion to family, her dedication as an educator, her gift of music, and the love and joy she shared with all who knew her. Services: A viewing will be held at Talbot Bible Church in Easton on Friday, September 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston on Saturday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10-11 prior to the start of the service. The Reverend Dan Zollinhofer and The Reverend Mark Farnell will be officiating. Interment will follow the service at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston.
