Donna Rae Barber

Donna Rae Barber was born on June 10th, 1938 to Donald and Doreen Way along with her little brother, Mike Way in Bakersfield, California. Donna grew up riding and caretaking horses, her own horse being named Honey Love. As an adult, she entered the workforce as a stenographer for the Kern County court system and amazed people with her skill of using shorthand. After she retired, she came into the care of Carl and Morgan Barber, her son and daughter in law. During retirement Donna spent many days with her two best friends Toni and Terri, who she loved dearly. For the last years of her life, she moved into Angel Zazueta's elder care home. He and his staff quickly became family to Donna, she cared for them deeply as they did for her. Donna passed away peacefully on January 30th of 2026. One of Donna's most common sayings was 'GIL & ILY', God is Love & I Love You. To know Donna was to know and hear this phrase often, and she lived by it.
