Opelousas -A Memorial service will be held for Donna “Sugar” Carron on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Donna "Sugar" Carron, born on June 23, 1944, in Opelousas, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Donna’s warm spirit and infectious personality made her a loved figure in her community. She had an incredible ability to connect with people, embodying a belief that she never met a stranger. She enjoyed going to the community lunch with the elderly. Family was paramount in her life; she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting her loved ones.
A woman of many interests, Donna found joy in a variety of activities. She was an avid reader who sought knowledge through books, and she loved to travel, embracing new experiences wherever she went. Among her favorite pastimes were fishing and enjoying basketball, reflecting her spirited nature and love for outdoor activities. Additionally, her career in nursing highlighted her genuine compassion for others and her commitment to caring for those in need.
She is survived by her sons, John Prejean and Chris Prejean; daughter in-laws, Paula Prejean and Janet Foreman; beloved best friend, Bebe; 6 grandchildren, Jacob Prejean (Mallory), Zachary Prejean, Andrew Prejean (Sandra), Matthew Prejean (Jimi), Wilson Prejean, and Chloe Prejean; 3 great-grandchildren, Avery Prejean, Leighton Prejean, and Elias Prejean.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darold L. Prejean; parents, Leo and Verna Mae Carron; and sister, Sonya Carron.
Donna "Sugar" Carron leaves behind a legacy filled with love, kindness, and the warmth she shared generously with all around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
