In Loving Memory of Donna Lynn Cobb
September 9, 1955 – February 4, 2026
With profound love, cherished memories, and truly heavy hearts, our family shares the passing of an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Donna Lynn Cobb, lovingly known as "Lynn" and "Nanny," gained her wings on February 4, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by her devoted husband and her three siblings. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength will live on forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
Born on September 9, 1955, in Guilford County, Lynn lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and love. She gave endlessly of herself-whether sharing her gift for decorating, offering a haircut or highlights, or simply being there when someone needed comfort. Lynn always put others before herself, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and unconditional love.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved deeply as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and nothing made her happier than hearing updates about her children and grandchildren. She carried each of them in her heart with immense pride.
Throughout her life, Lynn worked in many roles, from mill work to the food industry, but she found her true calling behind the bar. She often joked that she was a "well-paid therapist," listening, comforting, and lifting the spirits of everyone she met. Her love for hosting and bringing people together led her to design her own special bar, complete with an icebox and a daiquiri machine, where her grandchildren delighted in Nanny's famous virgin daiquiris.
Lynn also had a special place in her heart for those with special needs. Her time volunteering at Gateway Education Center in Greensboro was deeply meaningful to her. She often spoke of the joy she felt watching a child in a wheelchair transform in the water, swimming freely and confidently. Moments like these reflected Lynn's gentle spirit and her ability to see beauty, potential, and hope in everyone.
To know Lynn was to love her. She was the heart and soul of her family, the one who made every holiday magical, especially her beloved Christmas Eve celebrations. She spent days cooking, decorating, and preparing, simply to bring joy to others. She was known for her beauty, her gentle and caring nature, and her fierce loyalty to those she loved. She was always just a phone call away, ready to listen, comfort, or laugh for hours. Whether she was baking her famous fruitcake or mailing Biscuitville muffins across state lines because her daughter loved them, Lynn showed her love in countless thoughtful ways.
She was our safe place, our warm hug on the hardest days, and our voice of encouragement when we needed it most. Through her actions, she taught us the true meaning of love…selfless, constant, and unconditional.
Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Wade Cobb; her children, Gary Wayne Prince of Lancaster, Amanda Kilcrease (Carl) of South Carolina, Amy Rodgers (Todd) of South Carolina, Tammy Cobb of Georgia, Gary Cobb of South Carolina, and Derek Cobb of Burlington; and her siblings, Sherry Field of Gibsonville, Jack Tickle (Joan) of Hickory, and Denise Clark (Kenneth) of Graham. She also leaves behind her greatest treasures-her 12 beloved grandchildren and 5 precious great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a special place in her heart.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved grandmother, Lucille Trogdon Hinton; her beloved parents, Burley and Monte Tickle; her precious daughter, Monte Markley; and her beloved grandsons, Dylan Cobb and James Markley. We find comfort in knowing they were there to welcome her home with open arms.
Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the love she gave, the memories she created, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Her love will guide us, her laughter will echo in our hearts, and her strength will remain with us always.
We will gather to celebrate Lynn's life on Saturday Feb 14, 2026 at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home (Burlington). Service begins at 2:00 pm. Visitation to follow. All who loved her are warmly invited to join us in remembering and honoring her life.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, Lynn's love will forever stay with us. We were blessed to have her in our lives as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend!
