Donna Christine Connors
July 27, 1946 – March 25, 2026

Donna Christine Connors, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in the Bronx, New York, on July 27, 1946, to Daniel and Harriet (Weed) McElroy, Donna's life was defined by love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

As a young girl, Donna moved with her family to Central Islip on Long Island, and later to Mount Sinai, where she attended Earl L. Vandermeulen High School. In her youth, she had a passion for ballet and tap. She often spoke of her younger brother, Danny-just one year her junior-as her "favorite person." No matter the distance, they remained as close throughout her life.

After high school, Donna met the love of her life, James "Jim" Connors. Their early years together were marked by sacrifice when Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While home on leave, they married on January 7, 1967, beginning a wonderful marriage that would span 58 wonderful years.

Most of their life together was spent on Long Island, where they enjoyed boating on both the North and South Shores and spending summers on Fire Island with friends and family. In 2005, they retired to Delaware, embracing a new chapter filled with travel to places such as Aruba, Alaska, Florida, and the coast of Maine. In their later years, they made their home in Pompano Beach, Florida.

To know Donna was to love her. She was a tough cookie with a sharp wit. She spoke her mind freely-sometimes boldly-but always authentically. She was strong, opinionated, and unapologetically herself. And if she loved you, she loved you fiercely and stood by you without hesitation.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Billy; and her cherished grandchildren, Caitlin and Liam, who were the pride and joy of her life, along with many dear friends and extended family members.

A private service and burial will be held at a later date on Long Island where they will both be laid to rest eternally together.
