Donna R. Day

May 12, 1944 to January 3, 2026

Life-long Ballard resident Donna Rose Day passed away peacefully on January 3rd at the age of 81 after a period of declining health. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved older brother Warren, and her parents, Helen and Verner Day. Donna graduated from Holy Angels High School and received her nursing degree from Seattle Central Community College.

A Licensed Practical Nurse and the consummate care-giver, Donna lived a life of devotion, love and service driven by her deep Catholic faith. She was a life-long member and longest continuous parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ballard, where she served as a eucharistic minister and member of its Altar Society. Donna derived great joy from and made many friends through her 60 years in the Young Ladies Institute, a Catholic women's service organization, serving as President of its Queen Institute from 1986 to 1987 and its Carmelita Institute from 2019 to 2020.

She loved and will be greatly missed by her family - sisters Judy, Barbara (Chris) and Dorothy (Don) and her brother John (Linda); nieces Jennifer (Calvin), Jessica, Danielle (Ryan) and Siobhan, nephews Jonathan (Lisa) and Douglas; great-nieces Jani and Abby, and great-nephew Dylan; and by her many friends. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 31st at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 5816 15th Avenue NE, Seattle, preceded by a rosary there at 10:00 am. Reception after the mass in the Parish Center, followed by a grave-side service and interment at Holyrood Cemetery.
