BARBARA DAY Obituary

Barbara Lynn Day, 72, passed away January 15, 2026 with her husband Charlie by her side after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Barbara was born February 17, 1953 to Col. Vincent Bezich and Eleanor Bezich in Frankfort, Germany. Barbara enrolled in numerous schools throughout her young life as her family moved quite frequently. She finished high school at Wakefield in Arlington, VA. She subsequently attended VCU in Richmond, VA. Barbara had a variety of jobs but eventually ended up in the hospitality industry working for Marriott as an events coordinator specializing in wedding planning. Leaving Northern Virginia, she settled in Frisco, TX with her husband, Frank Cubero. After his passing she moved to Mariposa apartments where she lived for the next ten years. While there she was assisted by a small entourage of friends that included Mike Riggs, Susan Henry, and Mary McGarity. After her health worsened she moved to Hays Rehabilitation Center, where she met and married Charlie Deghart in February 2025. Known for her upbeat spirit, even during challenging health issues, she was always cheerful and active. She loved socializing and creating artwork. Hays was steadfast and supportive throughout her stay there, as was Elara Hospice during her final months. Barbara is survived by her husband, Charlie Deghart, former husband Jorge Alonzo, sister Linda Kumler, brother Bill Bezich and wife Karen, and her nieces Lara Bezich and Lindsay Aucella. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, sister Joanne Sue, and former husbands David Day and Frank Cubero. The family would like to thank her friends Ron and Judy Butler and Gary and Gloria Sandoval for all their care for Barbara and Charlie. There will be a small family get-together in remembrance of Barbara this spring in New Hampshire. January 15, 2026
