Donna Kay Duncan 58, of Malta Montana went to meet her creator on December 11, 2025.
Donna was born to Leo and Kitty (Carol Jean Young) Schefflemear on February 24, 1967 in Glasgow Montana. She was one of six children at that time, there would end up being eight children in total. She was only a couple days old when the family packed up and moved to Joplin Montana, shortly after that they moved to Malta. Donna grew up on a farm just south of Malta, being only one of two girls at that time you could imagine all the bumps, bruises and stitches she had acquired. In her youth she did 4H and showed sheep, steers and her beautiful Arabian stallion horse at the local Phillips County Fair. In her late teens she decided to forgo her high school career at Malta High School and went to job core in Anaconda Montana where she got her GED and found her love for cooking.
She spent the majority of her life as a cook. She got a pizza cooking job at The Long X on the hill from there she went to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home to be the head cook. After working there for a while she had her Daughter Katie. So she switched gears and worked in the laundry room to accommodate a new lifestyle. She worked at the nursing home for 19 years, within those 19 years she met the love of her life Dan Duncan.
Donna and Dan instantly fell in love and were married on July 17, 1999, where she gained a son Thomas. The family had many adventures together, the newlyweds even took the kids with them on their honeymoon to Big Timber water slides and Yellowstone National Park. She was a very loving wife and mother. She and Dan were married 26 years and together a total of 28 years. She dabbled here and there with different jobs until she became the assistant cook at the Dodson School. She was the assistant cook for many years then moved up to the head cook and that was her job until she passed.
Donna had a huge love for fishing, camping, and riding four wheelers in the mountains. Her favorite fishing spot was The Narrows down at Fourschette Bay. They would fish from sun up til sun down and would usually come back with their limit of fish. She loved going riding on the double Arctic Cat four-wheeler with her husband up in the mountains of Zortman, they went everywhere and anywhere up there. Donna and Dan would take the grandchildren every chance they got. They always had something for the grandkids to do and they loved it.
