Mattson Funeral Home & Cremation ServiceDonna Mae Granberg, age 93, of Scandia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Donna was born on November 15, 1932, in Green Isle, the daughter of Clell and Evelyn (Locher) Brown. She carried with her throughout her life the strong values of faith, hard work, and kindness that were rooted in her early years.
A devoted and active member of Elim Lutheran Church, Donna’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. For decades, she lovingly served as the church’s housekeeper, taking immense pride in caring for the building and ensuring it was always welcoming and beautiful. She was also a dedicated member of the church altar guild, serving quietly and faithfully behind the scenes. Her work was not simply a job—it was an expression of her devotion and her love for her church family.
Donna also worked as a baker at Crabtree’s in Copas, where her talents and strong work ethic were equally appreciated. She was an active member of the Scandia Marine Lions Club and participated in several card clubs over the years, treasuring the fellowship and friendships formed around the card table.
Donna was, above all, a giving woman. She was always ready to lend a hand—offering a ride to an appointment, preparing food for a funeral, or simply providing a listening ear when someone needed to talk. Her generosity was quiet but constant, woven into the everyday moments of life. She loved her family and friends deeply and found her greatest joy in spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clell and Evelyn Brown; her beloved husband, Sherman Granberg; and her siblings, Don, Flo, and Clara.
Donna is survived by her children, Larry (Jody) Granberg, Michael Granberg, and Sandra (Steven) Peterson; her grandchildren, Nicole Granberg, Stephanie (Sean) Denning, Kayla (Cain Thompson) Granberg, Mitchel (Brianna) Peterson, and Corbin (Lindsey) Peterson; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Melody, Miles, Elliott, Theodore, Rylie, Colton, Mackenzie, and Regan. She is also survived by her siblings, Bob, Joe, Barb, and Jackie, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Suite Living Senior Care in Forest Lake and Ecumen Hospice for their attentive care and support.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail North, Scandia, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Elim Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the church.
