Donna Grubb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. on Mar. 11, 2026.
Donna Lee (Koller) Grubb, 84, of Liverpool, passed away on March 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born at Harrisburg Hospital on September 29, 1941, to the late Norman and C. Janet (Gabel) Koller.

Donna began her education in one-room schoolhouses, attending Lebkicher's and the Gilfillen School also known as Corncob College. She graduated from Greenwood High School in Millerstown in 1959 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg University in 1963.

On August 17, 1963, Donna married the love of her life whom she had adored since third grade, James Grubb, beginning a devoted partnership of 62 years. That same year, she began her teaching career at Liverpool Elementary School. Her work in education continued in Dayton, Ohio, while James attended seminary, and later in the Selinsgrove area after his graduation.

Donna's deep love for children and youth shaped her life's calling. Following her contribution as a public-school teacher, Donna was certified as a leader in Christian Education through the United Methodist Church. She faithfully served the northern region of the Central Pennsylvania Conference as a Children and Youth Coordinator, and later as Director of Christian Education at St. Paul's UMC in State College and Grace UMC in Harrisburg. Afterwards, Donna's professional journey extended beyond education and ministry. No matter the setting, she brought the same passion that defined every chapter of her life.

While Donna's vocational accomplishments were significant, it was her joy, enthusiasm, and undeniable warmth that left the biggest impression on those fortunate enough to be around her. She will be forever remembered for her unwavering faith in Jesus, her incredible cooking, her love of Hallmark movies, her enjoyment of a glass of Merlot, her spirited cheers for Bryce Harper, and her infectious laughter that made her the life of any gathering. Above all, Donna will be cherished for her devotion to her "Jim," for the love felt by her children and friends who called her "Jag," and for being the best "Mimi" to her grandchildren.

Donna will continue to be loved by her dedicated husband, James Grubb; their children, Eric Grubb and Erin (Grubb) Hanshaw; her beloved grandchildren, James Grubb, Alexandra (Hanshaw) Leonhard (husband, Adam), Kathryn Hanshaw, and Ryan Hanshaw; and her sister, Judith (Koller) Yeiser. She is also lovingly remembered by extended family members, friends, and the many whose lives she touched through her ministry and teaching.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held at Linglestown Life United Methodist Church, 1430 N. Mountain Rd, Linglestown, PA 17112, on March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Rachel Wong and Rev. Dr. Dennis Keller officiating. The family invites you to share memories and a meal at Colonial Country Club, 4901 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112, immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Linglestown Life United Methodist Church, 1430 N. Mountain Rd, Linglestown, PA 17112, the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence 17110 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
