Donna Mae Kirschenmann was born on May 13, 1947 to Edwin and Pauline (Wittmieir) Kirschenmann in Roscoe, SD. She grew up on a farm near Hosmer, SD and graduated school from Roscoe.
On March 13, 1966 Donna married Donald Phillips. Together, they had four children: Stephanie, Bryan, Nate, and Jonathan. On July 15, 1995, she married Joel Helm and made their home near Aberdeen. They enjoyed spending time socializing with their church family at Aberdeen First Assembly. Donna and Joel would frequently entertain groups of friends as well as family in their home and cherished their time spent. Donna often accompanied Joel to the sale barn when he bought cattle.
Donna was a crafty lady. She often made homemade cards and sewed. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a strong, selfless, supportive woman; and very fair. She never missed a birthday and was sure to give to everyone equally. She was a prayer warrior who had a strong faith and wanted her family to know the Lord.
Grateful for having shared Donna's life are her husband Joel W. Helm; children: Stephanie Dunwoody, Bryan (Michele) Phillips, Nate (Megan) Phillips, and Jonathan (Jennilee) Phillips; grandchildren: Devin Dunwoody, Lexi (Dwayne) Nelson, Sydney Phillips, Greyson Phillips (Hannah Bohling), Abby Phillips (Terrel Hieb), Lincoln Joel Phillips, Parker Nels Phillips, Jaelynn Mae Phillips, Addison Faith Phillips, and Vivian Eliana Phillips; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Rylee, Harper, Oakley, Audrey, Adrian, Brynlee, Bryson, and Brody; siblings, Harry (Phyllis) Kirschenmann and Sharon (Bob) Weishaar; son in-law: Myron Dunwoody
