David Eugene Roth

1947 - 2026

Dundas, MN - David Eugene Roth, age 78, passed away at home in Dundas, MN on January 26, 2026. He was born in Aberdeen, SD and baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Aberdeen. David was a longtime member of the Northfield, MN community, while always keeping strong ties to his Aberdeen roots.



He was the son of Elaine and Elmer Roth, both deceased, and is survived by his siblings Bill (Linda) Roth of Aberdeen, SD, Barb (David) Ingalsbe of Paynesville, MN, and Bev (Terry) Hammrich of Sioux Falls, SD. David was a devoted uncle to many nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews, each of whom he cherished as though they were his own children and grandchildren.



A 1965 graduate of Aberdeen Central High School, David continued his education at Northern State College, earning a degree in business administration in 1970. He began his career in the grocery business working at Gene's Super Valu and Ken's Fairway Food in Aberdeen. He spent many dedicated years working in purchasing at Fairway Foods in Northfield, MN and later at Nash Finch Co. in Edina, MN, retiring in August 2013.



David found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures. He loved visiting with friends, neighbors, and coworkers, spending time outdoors, canoeing, fishing, hunting, waterskiing, and nurturing a lifelong passion for coin collecting. Some of his favorite places were the Black Hills of SD, the family cabin at Mina Lake, and his grandparents' farm. His warmth, steady presence, and humor will be deeply missed by his family and a wide circle of cherished friends.



Memorials may be directed to the new Splash Water Feature at Storybook Land in Aberdeen, SD, a place that held special meaning for him. A memorial service will be held at a later date; arrangements are with Spitzer Miller Funeral Home in Aberdeen, SD.
