Donna was born in 1943 to Thelma and Donald Brown. She was the beloved wife of the late Billy Herndon, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage in the home they built together on the family farm—a place she cherished deeply.

Donna dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher at Sunset School. She also served as the music director at Autreyville Baptist Church for 32 years, sharing her love of music and faith with the congregation before retiring. She remained a devoted member of the church throughout her life.

Following the passing of her husband Billy, Donna stepped into public service as Colquitt County Commissioner for District 4, continuing his legacy and serving her community with grace and commitment.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Herndon Johnson; her son, David Herndon and wife Carol; three grandchildren: Ally Johnson, David Herndon, and Case Miller; her brother, Gary Brown; and her sister-in-law, Mary Herndon Hulbert.

Donna will be remembered for her warmth, her dedication to her family and community, and the joy she found in music and life on the farm.
