Mrs. Donna F. Holt

Donna F. Holt, 88 of Cumberland Head, Plattsburgh, passed away February 16, 2026 at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

Born August 10, 1937, in Malone, NY, she was the daughter of Nelson Lee Walfield and Frances English Walfield Selkirk.

Donna graduated from Chateaugay Central School. Donna worked at General Dynamics in Plattsburgh where she met and later married Royal L. Holt in June 1962. They were married for 54 years until Roy's passing in 2016.

Donna had multiple jobs over the years including "Gal Friday" at WPTZ, dental office assistant for Dr. DeSnyder, DDS and Dr. Mintz, DDS. Together with her husband, they owned and operated "The Galley" at the Cumberland Head Ferry Landing for many years. Many of the locals enjoyed their home style goodies. She also was the office administrator at St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay and she enjoyed being involved in the church choir at St. Mary's on the Lake. She was considered a 'Foster Mom' to many of our friends. Her home was always open, and she welcomed everyone with meals, laughter, and countless afternoons spent together at the lake.

Surviving are her children, Tonya (Eric) Whiteman of Cumberland Head, Dean Holt and Sandra Caron of Ellenburg Depot, Shane (Cindy) Holt of Queensbury, and Leah Holt of Morrisonville; her grandchildren, Jarad Whiteman of Boston, MA, Jonathan and Jenna Whiteman of Beekmantown; along with their two boys, granny's little great grandchildren, Jaxon and Jakob; bonus grandchildren, Heath Baker of Plattsburgh and Christie (Eric) Morris of Rochester; her sisters; Carol Walfield Hagar of Naples FL, Pamela (Jerry) Bessette of Burke, Cynthia (Chris) Spinner of Chateaugay Lake, Beverly (Howard) Smith of Tarrytown; brothers, Nelson Lee (Millie) Walfield of Acton, ME, Floyd (Linda) Walfield of Birmingham, AL, Lloyd (Diane) Walfield of Burke, K. Lee "Skip" (Sheila) Dwyer of Trinity, FL, Kirby Selkirk (JoEllen Saumier) of Chateaugay, Bill Selkirk of Plattsburgh, Dale (Ann) Selkirk of Chateaugay; as well as several adored nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Besides her husband, Donna was predeceased by her parents, her step-father, Maynard Selkirk; as well as her sisters, Marcia Lee McGinley, Karen Bradshaw, and Christine LaDuke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay.

Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
