Donna Jane Lubner, age 86, a resident of Port Washington, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Lincoln Village Assisted Living in Port Washington.
Donna was born on April 23, 1937 in Fond du Lac to the late Edward and Irmgard (Schwartz) Derivan. She grew up in Fox Lake, WI and graduated from Fox Lake High School with the class of 1955. She was the valedictorian. Donna then went on to obtain her degree as a Registered Nurse and had worked at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Zablocki Wood VA in Milwaukee, St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington, and retired from St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon in 2000. On July 11, 1959, Donna married Herman J. Lubner, Jr. at St. Mary's Church in Fox Lake. She was a dedicated homemaker, an active member of St. John XXIII Parish, helped her community by organizing many blood drives, and was active in the Girl and Boy Scouts as a leader and den mother. She loved to do crossword puzzles, play her piano, listen to music and read. She was a Milwaukee Braves fan that carried over to being an avid Brewers fan. She loved watching the Packers and the Badgers. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were treasures to her.
Survivors include Donna's husband of 64 years, Herman; four children, Kevin (Janice) Lubner, Germantown; Laurel (Pat "Chopper") Prom, Goodyear, AZ; Julie (Rocky) Nault, Shawano; and Steven (Sara) Lubner, Reedsville; seven grandchildren, Zachary (Rachel), Tyler (Maggie), Emily (Rudy), Nathan (Niki), Jared (Michelle), Carly (Austin), and Faith; seven great grandchildren, Adelyn, Logan, Bo, Zane, Mila, Bailey, Raelyn, and also another great grandchild on the way; two sisters, Linda Gilhart, Beaver Dam; and Patricia (David) Meyer, Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Mark (Bernice) Lubner, Fredonia; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irmgard Derivan; and a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Alice (Roland) Jacoby and Ervin Gilhart.
Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Memorial services and burial of Donna's cremated remains will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
Donna's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Jayne, Sherry, and Chaplain Kevin from Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for the loving care they provided to Donna at the end of her life. The family would also like to thank Dr. Mark Fitzsimmons for the care he provided Donna throughout the years.
