Donna Maxey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange on Mar. 6, 2026.
"There's two dates in time that they'll carve on your stone. Everyone knows what they mean.
What's more important is the time that is known in that little dash there in between. That little
dash there in between" Garth Brooks

Donna Lee Maxey, age 74 of Port Orange, Florida (formerly Hicksville, New York), passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2nd, at her home surrounded by her daughter, Stacey, and brother-in-law Jeffrey. Donna was a fan of NASCAR, attending and watching races, including the Daytona 500. She was a fierce Scrabble player and devotee to jigsaw puzzles, which covered the walls around her patio. She enjoyed watching true crime shows on television; her TV was full of them, saved to skip commercials. She found joy in watching and interacting with local wildlife (raccoons, birds, and rabbits). She was fond of gossiping with friends and family over a cup of tea. Those who knew Donna will remember her big smile and contagious laugh. She was passionate, caring, supportive, stubborn, and loyal. Donna is survived by her son, Steven Huettner, and wife Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, her daughter Stacey Jacovina and her husband Chuck Jacovina, her grandchildren Isabella Huettner and AJ Jacovina, and her sister Arleen Younger and her husband Chris Younger. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jack Maxey, her parents, Eugene and Irene Scibelli, and her younger brother, Gino Scibelli. A celebration of Donna's life will be conducted at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange on Friday, March 20, at 11 am. The family will receive friends afterward at her home.
