Donna Lee McCool, 76, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. Donna was born in Cincinnati, OH on August 15, 1940, a daughter of the late Christina (Carr) Warram and Donald Lee Lockwood. She graduated in 1958 from Aurora High School, where she was a cheerleader. Donna last worked at Macy's in collections. She also had worked as a nurse's aide at St. Francis Hospital, a job she enjoyed very much. Donna was a member of the Lawrenceburg Eagles and was the first Madam President. She was also a member of the Aurora First Baptist Church. Donna enjoyed four wheeling and was involved with the IOK Gravelrama at one time. Donna is survived by a daughter, Deborah Sue Welz(Anthony), of Rising Sun, IN; by two sons, John Smart(Maureen), of Aurora, IN and Doug Smart, of Rising Sun, IN; by grandchildren: Jennifer(Bryce), Sarah, Tiffany(Mark), Anthony(Jessica), Gregory(Ashley), Whitney, Sara and Melissa(Richard); by great grandchildren: Zachary, Eleanor, Xavier, Reghan and Everett; by two sisters, Charlene Whisman(Leroy), of Aurora, IN and Cheryl Meister(Gordon), of Cleves, OH; by two brothers, Charles Lockwood(Peggy), of Aurora, IN and Robert Ascherman, of Aurora, IN. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 27th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Friends are invited to call Thursday 11 AM - 1 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, IN. Memorial donations may be made to Ohio County Rescue or PAWS.
