Donna Canada Pickard, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Alamance County, NC, at the age of 64. Born on November 12, 1961, in Person County, NC, Donna lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy.
Donna was a devoted family woman who cherished her role as a Nana, spending her days surrounded by the laughter and love of her grandchildren. Her career as a customer service representative at Star Tek spanned five years, where she was known for her kindness and commitment to helping others. After leaving her position, she embraced her most cherished role as a full-time grandmother.
Her love for the beach and lake was well-known, and she found great happiness in sharing these passions with her family. Donna's life was a testament to her faith, having accepted Christ at Solid Rock Baptist Church in
Burlington, NC. She pursued her education with determination, earning her GED from Alamance Community College in
Haw River, NC, in 1978.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Julia Canada, and her brother, Jerry Canada. She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted husband of 39 years Gary Pickard, whom she married in 1987 in
Graham, NC. She is also survived by her children: son Brian Canada (Susan), son Jeremy Watkins (Mary), and daughter Heather Gerald (Donald). Her sisters Jewell Yarbrough (Wallace), Deloris Reed (Randall), Regina King (Ray), and Karen Russell (Tre) will forever cherish her memory.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Victoria "Brooke" Russell (Timothy), Kenleigh Stewart, Melody Watkins, Jeremiah Watkins, Julia "Goose" Canada, Jurnee Gerald, Jahleil Gerald, Hayleigh Canada, and her great-grandchild, Braylen Russell. Donna is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Donna is also survived by her best friend of 40 plus years Kimberly Scott Walker.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at The First Baptist Church of Graham, located at 224 N. Main St., Graham, 27253. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., with the service beginning at 3 p.m.
