Donna Mae Reedy, 88, of Kersey, passed away July 21, 2025 at Grace Pointe, surrounded by her two daughters. She was born July 21, 1937 with her twin in Nelson, Nebraska to Lewell and Daisy (Seelye) Frantz. She was raised on the family farm in Holmesville, Nebraska. She graduated in 1957 from Holmesville High in Nebraska.

On May 14, 1957 Donna married Frank Reedy at the Justice of Peace in Redwood City, California. They moved back to Nebraska in the same area they both grew up, later that year. In 1960 moved to Greeley, then in 1970 they moved to Kersey.

Donna worked for the Platte Valley School District as the Jr-Sr High Cook Manager for 25 years. After retirement in 1993, she had a Day Care home for four kids in the Kersey community. She was also a member of the Cook Association for 20 years, went to cooking conventions and was in many cooking contests. Served on many boards, (YAC) Youth Advisory Counsel, 4-H Leader and Volunteer, Kersey Library, Kersey Housing, Arbor Tree of Kersey, Girl Scout Leader in Greeley. Donna had the most fun when she took money at Platte Valley for all the ballgames, she always had a smile for you and greeted you with "HOWDY".

Donna was a godly woman; she was a member of the Kersey Community Church since 1973. Served as a Deaconess for many years, helping with anything the church needed. She helped serve food/snacks for Vacation Bible School and Awana's. Donna loved singing with the choir.

Donna's hobbies were cooking, reading, watching TV, especially Family Feud, making bracelets and coloring. She enjoyed spending time with friends and talking to everyone. The last year and a half Donna got to know pretty much everyone on the main floor in Assisted Living and Rehab, the employees and residents. She was called the "Hall Monitor". Donna mostly enjoyed time with her family, specially attending events and sports for her grandkids.

Donna is survived in life by her son Randy (Kristi) Reedy, daughter PJ (Dave) Reynolds, daughter Sue (Dan) Gehring, six grandchildren; Brandi Burrows, Kassie Cundiff, Shane Reynolds, Mandi (Jerry) Crites, Klint (Lyndsey) Gehring and Brandon Gehring, six great-grandchildren; Alexa and Rydan Burrows, Ellie and Abrum Cundiff, Jerry Crites and Hazel Lozier-Gehring, siblings; Neomi Boggus, Arlene Gierhart, Deno Sandersfeld (twin) and Lavele Frantz and a large loving extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Reedy, her parents, Lowell and Daisy Frantz, siblings; Deloris Powell and Lenard Frantz and great-granddaughter Jainee Lynn Crites.

Donna's Celebration of Life service is on Saturday, August 9th, 2:00 pm at the Kersey Community Church. A reception will follow right after the service. The service will be live streamed on Kersey Community Church YouTube (website kerseycc.org). Memorial gifts may be made to "Kersey Community Church", "Derek Prescott Memorial" or "Pathways Hospice".

She was a great cook at the Platte Valley Schools. I have fond memories of her helping some of the Band Boosters learn the best way to make and bake Cinnamon Rolls at the elementary school kitchen, to be sold at the Little American Royal the first weekend in May at the same time Krautburgers were made under the direction of the Jr. Sr. High School kitchen that was sold also. The Band Boosters really appreciated all of the cooks helping us for our fund raiser. She was a good person!

We all loved Donna so very much at work. It was such a pleasure to have her in our care!! She was my baby´s first babysitter when we moved to Kersey/Greeley
She made us the greatest treats at Christmas. We lovingly called our favorite "Christmas Crack". I pray for your family´s comfort but rejoice knowing she and Jesus are making some goodies for us to enjoy when we get there

Sue and family,
So sorry for your loss, I lost my dad 2 months ago and know what you are all going through. I had fun times and got to test great food with your mom on the YAK committee, great memories.
She graduated from this temporary earthly life and is with Jesus and all those that have gone before, she probably feeding my dad and others right now.
Love,
Wesley Cecil

I remember meeting up with Donna and Frank on one of their trips through Oklahoma in Claremore. Their friendliness and smiles were rays of sunshine. May God bless and hold you through this loss.

Donna is with Jesus. She was a selfless person who served others. At every funeral dinner I ever attended at Kersey church, Donna was serving. She was a good friend and I'll miss seeing her. Nancy Giggy
