Donna Rienhart

Donna Rienhart February 21, 1937 - August 4, 2024 Resident of San Jose
Donna Rienhart was born in San Francisco, CA, to Damon and Dorothy Cox. She peacefully passed away at her San Jose home at the age of 87.
Donna lived along the San Francisco Peninsula through primary school before moving to San Jose. She graduated from Campbell High School, class of 1954. Donna attended San Jose State University and earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics in 1958 along with her teaching credential. Donna began teaching at Campbell High School in 1958 where she met Bob, her future husband of 59 years. School district policy at the time precluded spouses from each earning tenure, so Donna left fulltime teaching to be a homemaker and raise their two children Steven and Melinda. She returned as a substitute teacher for many years In the Campbell Union High School District and was even there substituting, proudly wearing her '54 class ring, the last week Campbell High School was open in 1980. Donna later taught independent studies at Boynton High School.
Donna and Bob made San Jose their home. The Rienharts spent many weekends on the San Francisco Bay hosting family and friends on the family sailboat. In retirement, Donna and Bob traveled around the world. Bob preceded Donna in death in 2019. Donna is survived by her son Steven (Laraine), daughter Melinda (Kevin), and granddaughters Amanda and Alicia Richlin, Paige and Taylor Rienhart.
A graveside service will be held on August 22 at 10:30 am at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, San Jose. After the burial there will be a reception at Donna's home. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in Donna's name.
