Donna Kay Messer was born in Anniston, Alabama, on September 2nd, 1953, to Leslie Talmadge and Mary Seale Messer. She graduated from West End High School in 1971.
Shortly after graduation, Donna met the love of her life, Robert Rothe and they married on August 7th, 1971, at Berney Points Baptist Church. Donna and Robby had 2 children, Jason (Tracie) Rothe and Jaime (Chris) Hill.
Donna accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a BYPU meeting at Berney Points Baptist Church at the age of thirteen. Because of her commitment to Christ, she supported the church with her dedicated service and attendance. Over the years, she attended Berney Points Baptist Church, Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church, and Bethel Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove. She was a dedicated servant in her church. Over the years, she has served her community in various roles. Donna was a faithful employee of AT&T for over 30 years.
Over the last 22 years Donna has had the title of Gigi from her 3 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She has spent countless hours supporting them in all their church, school activities, and sporting events. Zachary (Hannah) Hill with great granddaughter Miller Ann, Hayden (Macie) Rothe, and Mallorie Rothe have given her so much joy; they will miss her tremendously.
The family knows that their wife, mom and Gigi, is in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Bethel Baptist Church. The memorial service will begin at 12:00 Noon at the church.
