Donna G. (Chapin) (Horsch) Schalman passed away Sunday, March 5 th, 2023 in her home with family by
her side. Donna was born to Don and Ruth Chapin on July 5, 1945. Her two siblings are Linda (Chapin)
Overton and Chris Chapin.
Donna had a long career as a nurse, which she enjoyed very much. It was challenging sometimes but she
enjoyed making a difference in the lives of others.
Her true love in life was her three children: Alice (Terry) Holman, Richard ( Joyce) Horsch and Wyatt
Horsch. She was bless with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She
enjoyed many conversations and memories with each of them.
She enjoyed cooking and baking all different dishes for her family and for her church events. She
enjoyed making the wedding cakes for her son and grandson's weddings.
She had an adventurous spirit for the outdoors. She has traveled all over the United States with her
family and in most recent years by herself with her trusting sidekick, Maizie. She enjoyed camping,
fishing, hot air balloon rides and exploring different places and cultures. When she wasn't busy traveling,
she was gardening, doing landscaping, shopping for a great deal and helping family and friends.
Donna was an independent woman who was very straight forward in her thinking and spoke that way
too. She overcame breast cancer and varies illnesses throughout her adult life. But when pancreatic
cancer invaded her body, it was too much for her but being Donna.... she fought hard til the bitter end.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Alice.
Cremation took place, private family memorial will be held at a later date.
