It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Donna Mims Smith, who left us peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, on October 2, 1955, Donna's life was a reflection of her deep love for her family, her dedication to her work, and her passion for the simple joys that brought her happiness.
Donna was a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse, touching countless lives with her care and expertise. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her professional life, as she was deeply devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her husband, Roy Lee Smith Jr., and their two daughters, Lauren Ammermann (Taylor Ammermann) and Savannah Harrison (Ryan Harrison). Above all, Donna adored her three grandchildren-Mims Ammermann (6), Harrison Ammermann (3), and Ember Harrison (6 weeks). Her family brought her immense joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
A devout Christian, Donna was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Cheraw, South Carolina. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found great comfort in knowing that she would one day join her parents and her Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven.
In her free time, Donna found peace in the pages of a good book, working in her flower garden, and enjoying the warmth of the sun at the beach. A true South Carolina Gamecocks fan, she could always be found cheering on her team with enthusiasm and pride.
Donna was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Mims, and her father, Jerry Mims. She leaves behind her loving husband Roy, her daughters Lauren and Savannah, her cherished grandchildren, and her dear sister, Debbie Phillips. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11th, from 5-7 pm at Kiser Funeral Home. A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Saturday, April 12th, at 1 pm at Chatham Memorial Gardens.
Donna will forever be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering devotion to her family, and her gentle spirit. Though she will be greatly missed, her love and the memories she leaves behind will continue to inspire us every day.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Smith family in their time of grief.
