Donna Stack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barber Memorial Home, Inc. - Johnson City on Feb. 13, 2024.
Donna (LaBarre) Stack passed away Feb 12, 2024 after courageously battling a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Richard J.(Dick) Stack.
She was born September 3, 1943 to parents Charles and Erva LaBarre. She was also predeceased by her parents, brothers, Leon,(Emma Jane) Donald (Stella),Robert ( Caroline) LaValle and David. As well as sisters, Janet Strnatka(Daniel) and Evelyn Torrey, niece Cindy, nephews - Donald, Leon, Charles, Kevin, and Russell.
She is survived by three sisters: Teressa Basa, Dorothy Steere and Lois (Jim) Karns, sister in law Marion LaBarre, and many nieces and nephews.
Donna married Dick Stack in 1965 and helped raise his five children, Ed (Donna) Kim(Tim) Rick (Cheryl) Marty ( Stacey) Nancy (Rick). There are 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.
Donna was brought up on a large dairy farm called LaBarre Brother's Dairy in the Town Of Conklin, NY. She helped by bailing hay and sometimes she and her sisters Janet & Lois would start the milking while her brothers continued haying in the fields. She played on the town softball team and graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1961. Her first job was at Endicott Johnson Shoe Company as a bookkeeper. She went on to become the bookkeeper at Dick's Sporting Goods, where she worked side by side with her true love, Dick, for decades.
Always with an eye for business, Donna recently bought the LaBarre family homestead and proudly turned it into a successful Airbnb. True to her passions, she thought nothing of digging in the dirt in the morning and dressing up in the afternoon to meet her girlfriends on the golf course. Along with Dick, Donna enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating including cruising through the waterways of upstate New York all the way to Florida through the intracoastal waterway each fall and back again in the spring.
Donna was a member of Genegantslet Golf course, Vestal Hills CC, Binghamton CC and Jonathan's Landing Golf Club in Jupiter, FL. She was a prior member of the JL Yacht Club for over 20 years where she and Dick were accomplished boaters.
Surly, Donna will forever be remembered as a loving and giving sister, aunt, beloved grandmother, great grandmother, and treasured friend to many.
A service will be held at 11am on April 6, 2024 at the Hawleyton Methodist Church. 901 Hawleyton Road, Binghamton, NY where the family will receive friends from 10 am until 11am.
