Donna Jean Thomas, daughter of James and Margaret Bonds, was born in Page, West Virginia on November 24, 1941. Her father was a coal miner, and Donna was truly a proud Coal Miner’s Daughter! The family also lived in Georgia, Ohio, and Maryland, where Donna graduated high school in Hagerstown and attended business school in Baltimore. She returned to Hagerstown and worked at Central Chemical and Lowe’s, enjoying office work and developing many friendships.
Donna’s greatest loves were her husband, Jack, and children, David Montgomery of Orlando and Kimberly (Jerry) Cullen of Florida and North Carolina and grandchildren, David Joseph, Carolyn, Mikaela, and Kimberly (Daniel) and great-granddaughter Amelia of Sarasota. Donna also loved working with children and retired after 22 years with Orange County Schools, creating many life-long friendships along the way.
Donna loved people and cultures, and upon retiring, Donna and Jack could not be stopped and traveled the world! Their favorite trips were to the Holy Land and a trip that included stays in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. They also loved traveling to Asia, Russia, South America and the Panama Canal, Alaska, Canada, The Netherlands, Hawai'i and the Caribbean, and the American southwest and national parks.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Donna is survived by her brother James Allen Bonds (Linda) of Waynesboro Pennsylvania and sister Nida (Philip) Bikle of Huntingtown, Maryland, in addition to nieces and nephews she loved very much. Her #1 love was of her Lord, Jesus Christ, which was ever-present in everything she did.
