Donna Jean Fluegel Tienter
(September 26, 1934, to April 11, 2022)
Donna Jean Fluegel Tienter, 87, passed on April 11, 2022, at 11:05 AM at Jacksonville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Jacksonville, Florida with family members by her side.
Donna Jean Tienter was born on September 26, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She lived a rural life on her parent's farm in Spring Valley, Minnesota. Her education included a religious instruction in the Christian Religion, Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Her Confirmation was on April 10, 1949, at First English Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, Minnesota. At the age of 15 in 1949, while working a 4H Booth at the Preston (Minnesota) County Fair she met Raymond before he shipped overseas. Three years later when the Korean War ended and after Donna Jean had graduated the Class of 1952 from Spring Valley High School on May 28, 1952, they were married.
On December 10, 1952, at two o'clock at Decorah, Iowa Rev. T. A. Hoff married Donna Jean to Raymond Ellsworth Tienter. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Barnes. The Donna Jean wore a light gray suit with navy blue accessories and a corsage of red sweetheart roses and white baby mums. Their union was blessed with nine children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Donna Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent much of her life as a stay-at-home mother. Later, when her children were older, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar, Minnesota in early 1970s. She then took an active role in her husband's propane cylinder refurbishing company for 30 years. Afterward, she worked as an imaging record clerk for Florida-Georgia Blood Alliance for 22 years until the summer of 2016. She became a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Jacksonville in 1976 and of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on May 16, 2000. She served as treasurer for years, was an active volunteer in Club Scout Pack 286 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She also took her grandparenting role very seriously. If there was an event you could be sure she was available to be present. Her active presence influenced all their lives.
In her off time, she spent time with her family genealogy hobby. It was important to her to document our family's history. So, she began to research and continuously tracing our ancestors. Her laborious work resulted in seven generations from the past along with keeping track of the present. She loved to vacation in the Caribbean Sea, especially the Virgin Islands. Also, Donna Jean and Raymond would annually spend time in Las Vegas, Nevada. Usually close to their anniversary.
Preceded in death by her husband Raymond Ellsworth Tienter (2006), her daughter Annette Louise Tienter Place (1988) and son David Jonathan Tienter (1989), her parents Raymond Adolph Fluegel (1995) and Ruth Dorothea Schneider Fluegel (2001), her grandson Michael Tienter (1984) and her granddaughter Sara Rae Bingham (2007), and her great-great granddaughter Sara Rae Tetreault 2011).
Survivors include five daughters Eileen, Peggy, Roberta, Jean, and Susan and two sons Ray and Timothy, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren
The family will post service information when it becomes available.
