It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Donna Dee Boone Veillon, who left this world on December 8, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on August 8, 1952, Donna adorned the lives of many with her radiant spirit and boundless kindness. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and a true friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She had the biggest and softest heart among her family and friends. Donna worked for the City of Ville Platte for almost 40 years until she retired in 2017 at City Hall where she fulfilled her position as a Tax Collector and City Treasurer. So many knew her as "Miss Donna."
Donna’s passion for community involvement was reflected in her contributions to the Swamp Pop Museum, working at the polls during voting elections and her dedication to the Vietnam Vet Smoked Meat Festival, where she touched countless lives through her love for service and camaraderie. She loved to dance and have a good time with friends and family. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh had the remarkable ability to brighten any room, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Donna was secure in her faith and her relationship with the Lord. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where her and John attended mass and brought their 4 boys up in this local church. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 56 years, John Veillon; her sons, Ryan Veillon, with wife Christie, Jonas Veillon, with wife Jenny, and Jeremie Veillon, with wife Kacey; her brother, Thomas Duane Boone; her sisters, Melonie Boone and Jackie Boone; and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Briggs. Also loved by all her grandchildren, Raegan Veillon Ponthier, Landon Veillon, Adiline Veillon, Rylan Veillon, Gavin Veillon and Abby Veillon. Each member of her family will carry forward the values of compassion, grace, and warmth that she so beautifully embodied.
Donna rejoins the company of all those who have left before her including her parents, Thomas Boone and Nedttie Rose Guillory Boone, her sisters Debra Boone, Mindy Boone and Carrie Boone, and beloved son Jared Ross Veillon.
