Donna Lee Weitzel, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Mason, Ohio. Born on June 30, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Donna touched the lives of many through her caring nature and vibrant spirit.
A dedicated professional, Donna earned her bachelor’s degree and made her mark as a gym teacher at Seven Hills School, where she also shared her passion for sports by coaching field hockey. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as she was known for her involvement in her community and the lives of her students.
Donna was married to the love of her life, Raymond Lawrence Weitzel, on August 25, 1962. Their union was a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another. Together, they built a family, and her nurturing spirit flourished as she embraced her roles as a mother and later, a grandmother, earning the cherished nickname "Granny" among her family.
Her life was not just defined by her career and family; she was also deeply engaged in her church community. Donna played the organ and led youth groups that brought joy through theatrical performances. Her faith was central to her life, guiding her in all her endeavors.
In her leisure, Donna found joy through various hobbies such as playing tennis and staying active. She was a proud member of the Montgomery Women's Club, where she fostered friendships and community spirit.
Donna is survived by her two daughters, Barrie Lynn (Scott H.) Williams and Angela Ray (Robert "Les") Murray. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Samantha (Matthew) Viray, Carlie (Christopher) Richter, Cameron Robert Murray, and Chase Raymond (Jenny) Murray, along with her great-grandchild, Levi Viray. Her legacy of love and kindness will undoubtedly resonate through the generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her parents, A. Donald and Mary (nee Beckman) Ake, and her husband, Raymond Lawrence Weitzel.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 19, 2025, at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Benevolent Fund at Mason Christian Village.
