Donna Lynn (Walton) Woodruff, 76, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Sentara RMH Medical Center.
She was born on August 15, 1948, in East Point, GA, and was the daughter of the late Earl Conrad and Madelyn (Weldon) Walton.
Donna received her B.S. in psychology from the University of West Georgia in 1970. While attending the University of West Georgia, she met the love of her life, Charles "Danny" Woodruff, on a blind date and then went on to marry him on December 20, 1969, who precedes her. Early in her career, Donna was a teacher and moved with Danny from Atlanta, GA., to Richmond, VA and then to
Harrisonburg, VA in 1978. Donna had started a career in banking when their daughter, Saralyn, arrived in 1983. Donna left her job to stay home full time with Saralyn until Saralyn went to school. At that time, Donna returned to the workforce serving as a pharmacy technician for a number of years before transitioning to serving as the financial secretary for Harrisonburg City Public Schools which she retired from in 2008.
During her life, Donna enjoyed many things. She was a fitness queen in her younger years and loved aerobics and 'step' classes. Later in life, she transitioned to enjoying practicing yoga. She loved cross stitching when she was able and made many ornaments or framed pictures that remain within her family still. Donna was passionate about animals taking care of many pets and more recently, two cats which she adored, Sushi and Maddy. Donna really enjoyed the time she was able to spend with many of her friends, whether over coffee, lunch, or the annual trips to the beach with her "Beach Ladies". Donna was also an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Above all else, family was everything to Donna. She cherished and adored her family and took every opportunity to let them know and spoil them, especially her grandchildren. She will be incredibly missed.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Saralyn Woodruff Williams and husband, Rikki Williams of Ashburn, Virginia; grandsons, Aidan Perkins and Holden Williams; granddaughter, Henley Williams; cousin, Judy Reid of Alabama; sister-in-law, Ginger Woodruff and nephew, Cooper Stephens of Georgia. She is also survived by many other loving family and friends.
