Mrs. Donna Hooker (Ensley) Yarbrough, 77, came into the more immediate presence of her Savior on Friday, September 12, 2025, at her home in Shallotte, NC. She was born on June 28, 1948, in Forsyth County to the late Charles Dewey Hooker and Agnes Mozelle Helsabeck Hooker. Donna retired as a nurse after 41 years of service. She enjoyed photography, birdwatching, and scrapbooking. She also enjoyed crafting and cooking and had a witty sense of humor. Donna was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church from her time of birth until 1975. She then became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church from 1975-2010. Donna was a current member of Village Point Methodist Church in Shallotte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Isaiah Ensley, three aunts, Nancy Calloway, Virginia Hooker, and Janet Hooker, and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Joyce Ensley. Donna is survived by her husband of 15 years, Walter “Wally” Yarbrough, three sons, Mark Edward Ensley (Angela), Jonathon Bryan Ensley (Angela), and Adam Joseph Ensley (Melinda), and one step-daughter, Melissa Shumate (Greg), nine grandchildren, Jonathan James Ensley (Caylee), Isabella Delora Ensley (Austin Simpson), Leyah Bree Ensley, Carmen Julia Shumate, Rhianna Lynn Morales Shumate, Megan Tylyn Morales Shumate, Lillian Stork (Sam), Phillip Stanley, and Harmony Ensley, four great-grandchildren, Samuel Isaiah Ensley, Raelyn Grace Ensley, Adelyn Mae Ensley, and Evelyn Grace Simpson, three siblings, Loretta Haithcock (Larry), Byron Hooker, and Keith Hooker (Lynn), numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday September 19, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Duane Corle, Pastor Jonathan Ensley, and Rev. Richard Stone officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital of Greenville, SC 864-255-7954.
