Mr. Donnie Lee "Red" Bonnette, age 84, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Born on November 26, 1940, in Winnfield, Donnie was a lifelong resident of the community he dearly loved. A retired millwright and electrician with Weyerhaeuser, he was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and quiet dedication. He was also a devoted fan of Calvin Cougar sports, rarely missing a game and always cheering on with heartfelt pride. He loved and enjoyed every minute he spent fishing on Saline Lake. Mr. Bonnette proudly served his country in the United States Navy and received his Honorable Discharge on the fourteenth day of June, 1965.
Donnie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Joan Corbett Bonnette; parents, Reginald and Elsie Belle Williamson Bonnette.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Karen Edgeworth and her husband Dewayne of Winnfield; his cherished grandchildren, Kristin Hill, Brooke Miller, and Chad Miller; and his adored great-grandchildren, Joshua, Bubba, Connie, Katelyn, and Emily. He also leaves behind his sisters, Patsy Lester and husband David, Doris Leeper, and Carolyn Sue Franks, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his kind spirit and familiar smile.
Visitation will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM, with Rev. Lamar Carpenter and Rev. Billy Ver Hoef officiating.
Mr. Bonnette's ashes will be interred at Sanders Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
